Week of Sept. 30-Oct. 4

Hello families!

This week we are focusing on the following concepts:

Reading:  Nonfiction, text features, guided reading groups

Math:  Odd/Even numbers, addition and subtraction word problems

Science/Writing: Animal Research

Please ensure that your child is reading their guided reading book nightly.  Even if they have the same book 2-3 nights in a row, it does not hurt them to reread it!  It will actually improve their fluency and comprehension!

Thank you!

September 9-13

We have had a busy week!  Here are a few highlights from our week so far!

  • We are continuing our study on plot!  We read two great books: Horace, Morris, but Mostly Delores and Weekend with Wendell.  The theme of these two books was “friendship.”
  • We had our second visit to the library on Tuesday!
  • We are continuing our coin study in math.  We are working very hard to count mixed coins up to $1.00.
  • To help out at home, have your child count a handful of coins! (4-5 at a time)
  • We also reviewed “hairy money”  This is a fun strategy that really helps when counting!
  • We will wrap up our week with math and literacy stations continuing on Thursday, then our spelling test and math test on Friday!
